Transportation

Jacksonville is one of the easiest cities to commute with an international airport, access to major interstates, trains and buses. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) Skyway is an automated system offering low cost and convenient service to downtown patrons and employees. The trains depart the stations approximately every three minutes during peak periods and about every six minutes all other times. The Skyway system is interconnected with JTA's free Trolley service, providing riders with expanded mobility in the downtown area. In addition, the Skyway stations at Convention Center, Jefferson Street and Kings Avenue offer inexpensive Park-N-Ride facilities for commuters and visitors.

If you are looking for space to expand and beautiful weather you will probably love what Jacksonville has to offer in all levels of housing types. This expanse leads to an abundance of new home communities in just about any setting Florida has to offer. Whether you want to be close to the action of downtown, or live in a rural setting with any easy commute to the office there are many new and existing communities to suit your budget.

The Jacksonville housing market includes traditional Florida single family home neighborhoods, high rise communities and golf communities together with larger homes on acreage. There are also many historical homes located downtown and in the suburbs.

Many options are available for financing on properties, overseas investors should consider all financing options as many lenders are requiring a higher than normal deposit for foreign national mortgages. A popular mortgage is a multi currency mortgage allowing the buyers to switch between currencies taking an advantage of currency exchange gains.

Schools

Many people ask me when moving to Florida, how good are the schools? My answer is always the same, how good do you want them to be? Using my search & link facilities in addition to the zip code of the area you are in, we can establish the best school for your children. It’s all about Location, Location Location. Just because you are thinking of buying a nice new home it doesn’t mean the schools are to the standard that you are used to.

Your children’s future is one of the most important considerations to take into account and the distance you are from a good school may make all the difference, Use these page links to research the schooling systems and check out past grades. A good first point of contact is the web site Florida Department of Education as they offer directories of schools and colleges searching by district or name.  For Elementary, Middle & High schools information

With some great schools in the area the selection is vast to match any parental requirements. Here is just a small selection of the schools Bolles, Stanton College, Hendricks Day School, Edward Waters College and the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts.

Attractions

Outdoor activities abound, with 68 miles of Atlantic Ocean coastline, 300 miles of river and every imaginable topography in-between. Add to that our year-round fantastic climate and our low cost of living - Jacksonville is the most affordable city in Florida - and there's no wonder why this region keeps growing.

Whether you have the desire to shop, an ear for music or an attitude for action, Jacksonville is an oasis for visitors. Home to the Southeast’s largest modern and contemporary art museum, endless miles of beautiful beaches and sparkling, translucent waters, cultural pursuits from cool jazz to hot clubs and a remarkable concentration of high-end and ethnically diverse restaurants, Jacksonville offers visitors the true spirit of Northeast Florida with marvelous meals, flamboyant exhibits, peaceful landscapes and gorgeous gardens.

With almost 84,000 acres or 131 square miles of city, state and national parks, Jacksonville’s park system is even larger than the city of San Francisco. The first segment of the 2.31-mile, $1 million Timucuan Preserve multi-use trail (walking/biking/horseback riding) opened in 2005.

Jacksonville, one of the best-kept secrets on the East Coast, has a great waterfront setting and is a well-established golfing destination. The city and its surrounding areas are home to 68 courses, the PGA and Senior PGA tour headquarters, and the World Golf Village, just a few minutes down I-95. The World Golf Village is home to two courses, both with two distinct nines, one open and one wooded.

As Jacksonville is a big golfing area, relaxing on one of the many championship golf courses is a full time event for many people who visit or settle down in the area. To name just a few great courses Brent Creek, Hyde Park, Windsor Parke, Hidden Hills, Cimarrone, The First Tee, Blue Cypress  and  Panther Creek.
