This article is intended to provide an overview of different areas in Florida that my wife and I have visited through business and pleasure and are happy to have personally assisted many buyers finds their dream home. Our experiences from establishing our new life in Florida from the UK will ensure your dreams of joining us here come true more smoothly.
Too many people when they hear of Florida, they automatically think of Disney and Orlando but the sunshine state has much more to offer with a wide range of activities and advantages from many varied locations ranging from the far North West to the most Southern tip. Many visitors just simply fall in love with the size, space and lifestyle compared to their own country or state.

The weather and currency exchange advantages are some of the biggest deciding factors why many British visitors become investors in properties themselves or even take the lead to move here permanently and try and gain the coveted Green Card status and citizenship.
Below I have tried to capture some of the beauty of Florida from our own experiences to help you when deciding where to vacation, invest, buy or live.
A less known area way up in the North West of Florida is a beautiful area called Destin and on a recent visit we realized why many people chose this location to invest and retire. The beaches have pure white sand and the local fish taste divine. For a coastal location the property prices are very reasonable compared to other parts of Florida. With an abundance of leisure and sports activities there is very little time to sleep or get bored. To really appreciate the location it is best to click on the Destin map and expand to see the vast coast line surrounding this location.
 North West of Florida
One of the big growth areas is Sandestin, a resort community on over 2,400 acres with seven miles of coastline and every possible facility under the sun available. It hosts a beachside, village and the best golfing in the area.
The Village is at the heart of Sandestin and hugs the shoreline of Choctawhatachee Bay. This vibrant neighborhood is the talk of the South and a favorite among rental guests. Stroll the Village's eclectic collection of boutiques; cafes, galleries and restaurants, all along paved walk ways. Join fellow owners and guests on the lawn of the Event's Plaza for concerts, family movie night and other cultural events. You can really be a part of it all by owning your own Village condominium or town home. An ideal second home or vacation property, the village has a luxurious community pool and gated parking.

Central Florida
One of the biggest growth areas in Central Florida is Orlando situated pretty much in the middle of the state with easy access to all other key areas. Orlando has always been extremely popular because of the attraction parks such as Disney, Wet & Wild, Universal Studios, Seaworld and other great adventures like Kennedy Space Center and an Indoor Skydiving Center
Orlando, because of its popularity, has been made more accessible to overseas visitors than any other part of Florida. With two international airports in the same city thousands of international visitors flock there daily.
We first purchased a property in the Orlando area back in 1990 and have now bought and sold properties several times over the years taking advantage of the pound dollar fluctuations and the great deals available.
One of the many popular areas to many British people is Davenport, Kissimmee and Clermont all of which are located close to Disney and the main interstates. The Davenport and Kissimmee areas became very popular for second homes for many British who bought and put the property into the short term rental market earning money on their investments. Many of the buyers originated from renting a holiday home and falling in love with the concept they just had to buy one for themselves. These areas are still a great investment for all types of property from a condominium to a single family home.
Moving slightly away from the short term rental areas is a beautiful town called Windermere and it is surrounded by a chain of wonderful lakes. It currently hosts the homes of many of the rich and famous including many golfers like Tiger Woods. With easy access to the main interstates and the Florida Turnpike you can be either North or South Florida within a few hours. The area has been expanding rapidly with a buoyant housing market and close proximity to Disney. The great selection of high grade schools is a particular advantage to people moving to the area.

Central Florida will always be the great family location because of the attractions and shopping. In the height of the summer season you will always see many complete happy families on holiday together in the area. Many of these families have purchased vacation homes as big as 8-10 bedrooms to accommodate the whole family lowering future hotel costs. |

South East Florida
Siesta Key
The South East of Florida has beautiful beaches and is becoming a huge retirement area for many people. Fine dining and a great range of exclusive designer boutiques are everywhere. Again, with nearly every part of Florida, world class golf appears around every corner. Sarasota and Siesta Key are approximately 2 hours from Orlando and can also be accessed by Tampa International airport. The beach at Siesta Key has the finest white sand you will ever see. With the lively Siesta Key village offering a huge selection of dining, night clubs, boutiques this would be little time to get bored in this location.

The sunset on the beach is one of the most popular sights to be seen; as sunset approaches the beach begins to fill up with people wanting to watch the day light close. It is the most romantic place we have ever seen, as the sun sets on the horizon, people clap hands, cheer, kiss, and photograph. When you stand on the beach watching the sunset you will never be alone as you will be surrounded by many happy people sharing the moment. |

Florida is an affordable possibility for many price ranges and family needs. It is often called the place where dreams come true.
